Privacy Policy

TL;DR. The Sundime Gateway runs your battery locally, inside your home. A secure connection hosted in Australia handles software updates and lets you use the app when you're away — but we don't sell, rent or mine your energy data, and there are no third-party trackers or ad networks anywhere in Sundime.

What this policy covers

This policy describes how Sundime handles personal information when you use the Sundime Gateway (the "Gateway"), the Sundime mobile application (the "app"), our website at sundime.com.au, and any related testing or beta program we invite you to participate in. It complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

How Sundime handles your data

Sundime is built local-first: the work happens on the Gateway in your home, and only what's needed to keep it running, updated and supported travels any further.

  • The Gateway talks to your inverter over your home network and does all of the optimisation locally, in your home. Your battery keeps being managed even if your internet drops.
  • On your home network, the app talks to the Gateway directly. When you're away, the app reaches your Gateway through a secure relay we host in Australia, so you can still check in and make changes.
  • The Gateway connects to Sundime's secure cloud — hosted in Australia — to fetch software updates and current electricity-plan information, and to report whether it's healthy so we can keep it running.
  • We do not sell, rent, or mine your energy data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
  • Sundime does not embed third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
  • You stay in control: you can pause Sundime, change any setting, or roll back to your installer's original configuration at any time.

What we do receive

Beyond running the service for you, the personal information we hold is what you send us directly and what your Gateway needs to share to stay supported:

  • The "Register your interest" form on our website. You give us your name, email, postcode, phone number, the inverter you have, and optionally your retailer plan and any notes. We use this only to decide whether to offer you a place in the beta and to contact you about it. We store form submissions on our own server in Sydney, Australia. We do not on-sell, share, or otherwise disclose this information to third parties.
  • Your Sundime Gateway. To keep your Gateway updated, secure and supportable, it checks in with our Australian cloud — for example to fetch software updates and plan data, and to report whether it's healthy. If you turn on remote access, or ask us for support, energy and status data passes through our secure relay so the app (or, with your okay, our support team) can reach your Gateway. We use this to run and support the service — not to advertise to you or to sell to anyone.
  • Email you send to us at hello@sundime.com.au or privacy@sundime.com.au. We keep emails for as long as we need them to respond, then archive or delete in the ordinary course.
  • Standard web server logs. Our website logs IP addresses and user-agent strings for the usual operational reasons (security, rate-limit abuse, basic traffic counts). These logs are kept for up to 90 days and are not joined with any other personal information.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your information to anyone.
  • We do not use it for advertising or for profiling.
  • We do not share it with our partners or affiliates.
  • We keep your information in Australia — the Gateway, the relay, and our cloud are all hosted here.

Remote access (optional)

Sundime can let you use the app when you're not at home. When you turn this on, your Gateway and the app exchange messages through a secure relay we operate in Australia.

The important details:

  • It's opt-in. You actively turn it on, and it can be left off.
  • The relay is a transport, not a store — it passes messages between your app and your Gateway and does not retain your consumption or energy data once a message has been delivered.
  • The relay is hosted in Australia. Your data does not leave the country as part of using this feature.
  • You can disable the feature at any time, which immediately stops new messages from being relayed.

Children

Sundime is intended for adults responsible for a residential battery system. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Accessing, correcting, and deleting your information

Your settings and history live on your Gateway and in the app. You can reset them at any time from Settings, and asking us to remove your Gateway from our cloud will clear the operational data associated with it.

For information you have sent to us (the registration form, emails), you can ask us to access, correct, or delete it by emailing privacy@sundime.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, typically 30 days.

Security

Our cloud, relay and form submissions run on infrastructure we operate in Australia, with encryption in transit (via Cloudflare) and standard access controls. We hold as little personal information as we can — the simplest protection is the one we apply: we don't collect what we don't need.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first at privacy@sundime.com.au — we will investigate and reply.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We will revise this policy as Sundime evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page is the canonical version. Material changes will be flagged on the website and, where you have given us your email, by email.
